FUEL ECONOMY TIPS
$3 PER GALLON? –And up!
We may not know how far up the price of gas will go, but we can go farther on a gallon of gas. Here’s how:
- Check your tire pressure. Correct pressure can save you 7cents a per gallon.
- Check your air filter. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve gas mileage by as much as 10% and save 22 cents per gallon. Replacing a dirty air filter not only saves gas but also protects the car’s engine.
- Watch your speed. Each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional 15 cents per gallon.
- Keep your car tuned up properly. A well maintained vehicle will run properly and use fuel more efficiently, saving from 9 to 88 cents per gallon.
- Use BG 44K® Power Enhancer. It removes engine deposits (in combustion chambers, intake manifolds, ports, and on valves), restores flow in fuel injectors, and cleans the entire fuel system – all of which improves fuel economy and reduces exhaust emissions.
- Keep your car washed and waxed. A somewhat surprising tip, perhaps, but a clean car improves aerodynamics and therefore affects fuel economy. Engineer Tom Wagner Jr. reported to Stretcher.com (as in stretching your dollars) a 7% improvement in fuel economy – from 15 to 16 miles per gallon – during a 1600-mile road trip.
- Get a fuel economy check-up. Your local auto repair shop should provide this service for around $40 or less, and it may save you as much as $1 per gallon.
- Track your gas mileage. Keep a small notebook in your vehicle and write down the miles driven and the gallons of gas purchased each time you fill up. To calculate your miles per gallon, divide the number of miles by the number of gallons.
See how your fuel economy improves after implementing the above tips!
