Oil-Change Proceeds for Hurricane Victims

Like many people, Gregg and Christina Caldwell wanted to do something to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  And through the business they own, G&C Express Auto Service in Chantilly, they’re doing just that.

Since Aug. 31, and continuing until the end of September, they’re donating 100 percent of their proceeds from oil changes and state inspections to the American Red Cross.

“We’re not keeping a dime of it,” said Gregg Caldwell.  “We’ve already raise $700 and are shooting for $5,000 by the end of the month.  When we mentioned this fund-raiser to the staff, they were all for it.”

G&C Express Auto Service is at 14008 Willard Road, near the Dulles Expo Center, and will be open from 7a.m.-7p.m. during the fundraiser.  Anyone interested in donating to the fund may call Caldwell there at 703-263-2474.

He normally charges $28 for oil changes but, during the fund-raising period, he’s asking for $40 so he can contribute more money to the Red Cross.  Another local business, J.K. Auto Parts of Chantilly which supplies oil filters to G&C, is also doing its part.  Said Caldwell: “It’s contributing the filters for free, as its donation.”
